Federal Arctic Forum

21-26 November 2016

November 20-22, 2014 in Moscow was a festival of arctic activities that combined the following events: 

  • I International Scientific Conference «OPEN ARCTIC» 
  • Photo Exhibition «THE ARCTIC» in Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow
  • Open space Photo Exhibition «THE ARCTIC» at Gogol Boulevard, Moscow
  • III International Festival of Nonfiction Films "THE ARCTIC"
  • Press-conference at TASS Rassian News Agency

The ARCTIC DAYS, November 2014, was attended by over 3500 people. The highlight of the Multimedia Art Museum’s photo exhibition became a present photography by  Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev

President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Moscow Mayor  Sergey Sobyanin, President of RGO Sergey ShoyguThe Special Representative of the President of Russian Federation for International Cooperation in Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov, supported events and send greetings to participants and guests of the festival ARCTIC DAYS in MOSCOW

More than 2000 scientists and specialists  from Moscow, Russian Arctic Regions, Great Britain, Germany, Norway, Island, Chech took part  in discussion of topical issues of the Arctic region at the scientific conference "The Arctic Open", which has become a key event of  ARCTIC DAYS in MOSCOW. 

In the plenary session "The Arctic - the ecological balance and development prospects" took part Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy, First Vice President of the Russian Geographical Society, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Board of Directors of "Rosneft", the famous explorer of Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "NOVATEK" Alexandr Natalenko, British professor, 2007 Nobel laureate Terry Callaghan, Director and Regional Representative of the European Office of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the former Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic Jan Dusík, founder of the international environmental movement "Living Planet" Nikolai Drozdov.

The festival ARCTIC DAYS in MOSCOW was finished by a ceremony of awarding prizes to the winners of the III International Festival of Nonfiction Films "THE ARCTIC", which featured more than 100 new films.

More than 500 journalists from leading Russian and foreign media, including Channel One Russia, Russia Today, Russia 24, Zvezda, Moscow 24, Izvestia, Commersant, Vedomosti, Expert, Interfax, Russian international news agency Russia Today, SPIEGEL, Radio France, RAI-Radiotelevisione italiana, Xinhua, Аlmanar, Le Courrier de Russie and others expressed interest in the activities of ARCTIC DAYS in MOSCOW festival

Festival ARCTIC DAYS in MOSCOW  was organized by Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Министерство, and supported by при поддержке The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Goverment of Moscow, Russian Geographical Society, Russian Academy Of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
